When it comes to social media marketing, do engage in every trend that comes along, or do you select particular sites and strategies? Here are some considerations when choosing social media sites for dental practice marketing.

Find out where your target customers are

Determine the demographics of your customers to help you identify which social media sites should you promote your services in. For example, if you are you tapping students and young professionals aged 18-30, you should create a Facebook fan page for your business. On the other hand, if you prefer to attract more established career people, plan on setting up a LinkedIn or Google+ account.

Are you attracting individuals or businesses?

Are your promoting your business to other businesses or are your targeting to acquire individual customers? Remember that different users will be on different sites. Let this serve as your social media marketing guide: for more B2C marketing, Facebook is an ideal choice. On the other hand, for B2B marketing, LinkedIn is the more practical choice. Consider the type content you plan to share

Being in the dental practice field, you can share a lot of useful information to your potential followers, such as health tips, how-to articles, related photos, and video guides to name some. The type of content that you plan to share will help you determine that best social media site to take advantage of. Dental videos, for example, are most appropriate on YouTube; health articles should be featured on blogs and shared on Facebook and Twitter; and health photos will fit Instagram, Google+, and Pinterest.

Since online marketing trends will continue to grow and evolve, you have to remember that the key players in social media may change over the years. There really is no play book that says what you should and should not do when it comes to using social media for dental practice marketing.
