As the last quarter of 2013 begins, a lot of online marketers are already looking forward to what’s in store for them in 2014. In an article for Forbes, Jayson DeMers enumerates what he predicts will be the top online marketing trends of 2014.
Focus on quality content will make content marketing bigger
DeMers says content marketing will be bigger than ever. With the heightened focus on quality content these days, this one is kind of expected. By coming up with engaging content with a particular type of audience in mind, companies can build a positive reputation within their specific niche.
More diverse social media marketing
Social media marketing may require more diversity too according to DeMers. He points out that new social media networks keep popping up on a regular basis, and that it has become common for businesses to utilise multiple networks for optimum results.
Content rich in images will dominate
Image-centric content will also rule, says DeMers, and I completely agree. No matter how well-written any given text is, most people are still drawn to images ranging from pictures to infographics, and that is why content rich in images will dominate 2014. To be perfectly honest, there are times I’d rather look at pictures or watch videos on a site than read what is known in online circles as walls of text.
Simpler online marketing
You can also expect online marketing to be more streamlined and simplified much like Pinterest, whose appeal lies in its minimalist and clean look. DeMers also predicts that more mobile-friendly content will be necessary, that ad retargeting will grow in effectiveness and SEO and social signals will become even more intertwined.
