Why your dental practice website needs to be “mobile-friendly”

Millions upon millions of people around the world have a mobile device or two, all the more reason for business owners to invest in a mobile friendly website. And if you have a dental practice that aims to attract as many potential patients as possible online, you would do well to make sure that you have a mobile friendly website, that it can be easily accessed and viewed by people right on their smartphones and other mobile devices. Here’s why.

The mobile device statistics speak for themselves. According to a report by the Cisco Visual Networking Index, it is projected that there will be 10 billion mobile devices in use around the world by the year 2016. That’s a lot of mobile devices, and a lot of potential customers for your dental practice. In the United States alone, more than 33.3 million consumers already use their mobile devices for shopping-related activities, with 7% or 2.3 million actually purchasing products and services—including health-related ones like dental care—using their devices.

Convenience and accessiblity

Convenience and accessibility at all times are two of the primary reasons why people use smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices to surf the Internet in the first place. They would want anything that needs to be accessed from the Internet—from email to any website—to fit into their lifestyle, and that lifestyle these days is represented by smartphones and tablets. If you don’t have a mobile friendly website for your dental practice, that means your site cannot be viewed and accessed properly on a mobile device. You then run the risk of losing potential patients. Consider this: 61% of customers who visit a not-so mobile friendly website site are likely to go to a competitor’s site. This is just one of those mobile device statistics that you just could not ignore.

Keep in mind that the primary reason you have an online presence is to share information to customers and attract new patients at the same time. That is why it’s very important for you to be ready to engage them in any way they prefer. If your customers choose to be mobile, then you have to make certain that your website, social media page, email and other forms of your digital presence are fully optimised to effectively interact with them that way.
