Google announced a major change in regards to adding and maintaining news-related content on its Google News aggregation and search.
Google News Publisher Center launched
The search giant introduced a new website called the Google News Publisher Center, where the key details of websites can be managed and maintained. This is where website owners can submit their website for inclusion in Google News after ownership verification using the Google Webmasters Tools.
In addition, website owners are allowed to update details of their website through the publisher center, including name of the site, category (news, blog, satire, or opinion), site structure, and section labels. While this feature will initially be rolled out in the US only, Google is planning to introduce it to other countries, in addition to adding more features.
According to Google, the Google News Publisher Center aims to provide readers with “more information about the articles they’re clicking” and website owners with the “better discovery and classification” of news content.
